A.J Wells and Vlaze are pleased to announce an exciting collaboration with Transport for London as part of Transported by Design launching at the 2015 London Design Festival. Working with a number of
designers we have created a range of licensed vitreous enamel products for the home: Nesting tables for Mini Moderns, desktop valets for Alice Made This, kitchen splashbacks for Michelle Mason, side tables for Signs of the City and a range of cafe´ tables and a bar frontage for the Pick Restaurant designed by Michael Sodeau Studio. The products will be on display at Design Junction from Wednesday 23rd through to Sunday 27th September and will be available to purchase thereafter.
Signs of the City have launched a range of side tables using Vitreous enamel plate bonded to birch ply. The tables are available with the iconic Roundel name bar or subtle silhouette Roundel embossed into the enamel. The site also offers authentic rail and street signage made to order including London Street Signage, Heritage Rail Signage and London Underground Roundels. Customers are able to choose from a comprehensive list of well known location names or customise street signs or tables with their own message. Please visit signsofthecity.co.uk for further details.
Michelle Mason has created vitreous enamel splash backs for bathrooms and kitchens with designs inspired by the Tube roundel logo and with a nod to the graphic,1930s moquette prints. A second design features a geometric pattern inspired by the Edwardian tile configurations from London’s original Bakerloo and Piccadilly tube lines. The splash backs will be available to purchase through Vlaze.co. Please contact us for further details
Mini Moderns have designed two vitreous enamel topped occasional tables featuring one of their latest print designs – which has been re-coloured exclusively for TfL. The abstract tonal greys, suggest the London Underground tunnels, or an abstract version of Transport for London’s classic roundel branding. The tables also feature hairpin legs created in Underground line colours. The tables are available to purchase through minimoderns.com
Michael Sodeau Studio has designed the Pick Restaurant at Design Junction (after Frank Pick founder of TfL’s design ethos) incorporating new licensed collections from TfL. Working with Michael Sodeau we have manufactured the bar frontage from oversized vitreous enamelled tiles and the restaurant tables. The tables are cut from from 30mm birch ply and topped with vitreous enamelled plate steel in a variety of heritage colours. A limited edition of 24 bespoke tables will available to purchase. Please contact us for further details.
Alice Made This has designed a selection of men’s accessories including cufflinks and a desktop valet. The desktop valet is manufactured by us from vitreous enamelled low carbon steel. It is paired with a clean cut leather mat, designed in TfL white and blue to represent the colour of Underground station names, mirroring the valet’s function as a single destination for all manner of belongings. The accessories are available to purchase through Alice Made This
